What is “Left”?
On your last post you said we are in war with the left. What are the Left? I will give my definition and look to see if you will add to it, correct it, or agree with it. I will start my history at the turn of the century for this definition. A leftist believed that the government should be there to help all individuals maintain their freedom to live by supplying many social economic programs for the less fortunate and elderly. At the time, we had large amounts of European immigration from many less fortunate and oppressed individuals. These programs started Unions, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, etc. It all led to the creation of the income tax, (something had to support these programs). Now as time went by, so did the social economic diversification in America. Especially in the last 30 Years. Although the country is not perfect, unfortunately it never will be, in the last 30 years we have seen a true melting pot in social economics. There is still a large division between upper class and middle class, but the separation between middle class and lower class has shrunk. The Racial and Sexual economic discrimination inside these classes have diminished. Now we know that SS, Medicare and Medicaid are on the brink of bankruptcy, (understatement), but these as well as unions themselves are separating the middle class from the upper class. Actually creating road blocks from people jumping into other classes. To make it worse, expansion of social economic programs, (Leftists agenda) will make it nearly impossible for one to jump into another class, aka “accomplish the American dream”. So racism and sexism in the workforce is declining, but their will be two classes in the near future whose discrimination will hit all time highs, the are the Have and the Have Nots. It order to eliminate this, you need let people take chances, make mistakes with ramifications, learn and grow and create, not control. Government should guide their children (citizens), not control them. Leftist agenda’s are based on a beautiful Utopian theory, but realistically they are just chaining down the American people. This is my view and maybe I am wrong, so Justin and others, please Educate Me!!!

Well income tax originally was started in 1862 to fund the union in the civil war. then was ruled unconstitutional blah blah blah, and the 16th amendment made it permanent. I’ll disagree with a few things only about why and when social programs turned up and started this “war.”
The socialist party of the USA was always knocking on the door to change the U.S. I believe it was in the 20′s When Norman Thomas was making waves.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But under the name “Liberalism” they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” – Norman Thomas.
The “New deal” which was F.D.R’s “stimulus package offered the social programs that plague us today (Which also won the black vote for the first time, which was previousley republicans to have). The Linden Johnson’s “Great society” expanded on them creating the ever raging “war on poverty.” All this without getting into great detail.
But it all stems from a general beleif that America was doing something wrong. Obama said in 2007 the the constitution is a “negative charter of liberties.” He believes it is wrong for saying what the government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what it SHOULD do for. wether you like it not I guess.
But the democrats that adopted the wolf in sheeps clothing, “Liberalism” are the “left.” And it gained it original momentum from F.D.R.!
But yes, I agree with what you say in what they believed and so on with the unions and and all the rest and what have you.
